Our Talking Therapies service provides a safe and supportive environment with a qualified therapist, where you can explore your emotions, develop coping strategies and better understand your thoughts and feelings.
How to access Talking Therapies
This service is available to anyone aged 16 and over, registered with a Luton GP.
We offer appointments at a time that work for you, over the phone, through video call or face-to-face, at various locations across Luton.
Available treatments and support
We understand that seeking support isn't always easy. We therefore try to make our therapy as flexible and as accessible as possible, by offering a range of approaches and talking therapies to help you make positive changes and take control of your life.
1-to-1 Therapy
Treatment and support can be carried out in the form of 1-to-1 sessions with a therapist in person, over the phone or by video call. Treatments are wide-ranging and are designed specifically to the individual circumstances. They could include:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Couples therapy for depression
- Counselling for depression
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness
Groups and Courses
Our groups and courses gives you the opportunity to hear from others going through similar experiences or facing the same challenges as you. This can help you gain a better understanding of your own problems and feel less alone. Learn more here.
Self-Guided Online Therapy
Explore our mental health programmes on SilverCloud, designed to empower you with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to boost your wellbeing. Accessible 24 hours a day from any device - computer, tablet, iPad or smartphone, you can manage your mental health conveniently at your own pace or one of our therapists can provide feedback and support at regular intervals to help monitor and encourage your progress.

FAQs
What happens after I have self-referred?
After you have self-referred to our service, a member of our admin team will contact you to arrange an assessment to discuss what you would like help with and ensure we are the right service for you. If not, we will help refer you to a more appropriate service. You can then choose to have your appointment remotely (via phone or video call), or in person at one of our site locations in Luton.
I am feeling suicidal. Can you help me?
It is not uncommon for you or a loved one to feel suicidal when experiencing depression and/ or anxiety. We are a primary care service and are therefore not able to deal with crisis situations. If either you or someone close to you is having thoughts of harming themselves or others and you need to speak to someone urgently, please visit our Get Support page for emergency help and support services.
Please note: if you are under 18 and report risk to yourself or others, including self harm, we will have to share that information for your own safety with others. This would potentially include your parents/guardian.
Can you help if English isn't my first language or if I need an interpreter?
Yes. Some of our clinicians can provide support in languages other than English. We are also able to arrange interpreters/translators for appointments, including British Sign Language interpreters.
